ATTENTION WARRIORS: WHILE WE ARE NO LONGER HOLDING OUR ANNUAL CAMP, WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FREE CAMPS/LESSONS FOR INJURED SOLDIERS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS THROUGH 17TH ST/BILLABONG SURF CAMP.
FOR INFORMATION, CONTACT JASON (THESURFSCHOOL@YAHOO.COM)
15 years ago, we saw an opportunity to give back. Aided by the generosity of countless volunteers and donors, we’ve been able to provide therapy in the form of surfing for roughly 1000 injured soldiers and their families. Our community selflessly came together to make our camp an incredible experience year after year. Due to the US no longer being involved in any hot wars, the need for our annual event has diminished. We will no longer hold our large-scale camp, but we’ll continue to offer free instruction for injured warriors or their family members through @billabongsurfcampvb. Our involvement was a source of enrichment in our own lives, so downsizing feels a bit melancholy. We wish to thank you all for your help, as the event would not have existed without you. And to our warriors, we can never thank you enough for your sacrifices.
Sincerely,
Ken Hunt, Jason Borte, and the rest of the Wave Warriors team

About
Wave Warriors Surf Camp – Salt Water Treatment is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a fun and therapeutic family weekend getaway in Virginia Beach for injured service members and their families. Inspired by a similar Billabong Camp in California, Wave Warriors was launched by local surfing aficionados Ken Hunt and Jason Borte after recognizing that riding waves delivers a unique and empowering experience.
This camp would not be possible with the help of our incredible volunteers. Volunteer duties range from water safety to lunch service so there are plenty of ways to help regardless of surfing/swimming ability. Official volunteers must be 18 years and older If you’d like to participate this year, please click on the Volunteer link above print and complete the volunteer waiver, and bring it with you to the beach. There will be waivers on the beach.
